Kaori was surprised when a new transfer student named Nanahara Ayabuki came to their class. They knew each other since they were little but got separated when Nanahara moved away. When she entered the girls' locker room, she saw Nanahara wearing only one earring and other students kept asking her if it was given by her boyfriend. Nanahara said it's an unrequited love and she is the pursuing one.
Since she wanted to make friends with her again, Kaori and her friend came up with a plan to set up Nanahara and Takeda, a guy who they thought she was pursuing. Kaori pretended to be a fortune teller and gave them their reading. When the crystal ball exploded, Nanahara embraced Takeda and she couldn't watch them. She left and Nanahara chased her and ask her what's wrong. They talked and Nanahara offered for them to be friends again. Kaori said,
"I'm sorry, I can't. I could never be Nanahara's friend"
Nanahara held her close and said,
"Friend? From the beginning, you were never just a friend"
