Kaya wasn't looking very well so Syouko was worried about her. Kaya, is an Oni (demon) living in the human world and she was struggling to suppress her demon side. When Syouko saw her eyes turned red, she chased her when she ran away. Kaya planned to disappear and asked Syouko to get away from her. Syouko refused to leave her alone and said she wanted them to always live together. Kaya touched her face and said if they live together, Syouko will need to sacrifice her blood. Syouko offered her neck and said:
"I freely offer it to you. So let this blood transmit my feelings to you"
Kaya's acceptance of her offer was served as an exchanged vow for them to never part again.
