03/10 GIRLS LOCKS! "Books Club Book Sommelier"

[...]
This is a new corner since February where they select one person from the board who can then introduce one or more books to the listeners. If you still didn't notice or are new to Girls Locks!, Horikita Maki is the head of the books club. She's responsible for everything regarding literature.
Last time they talked a lot about the mystery genre and it really was a big success among the listeners.
That's why they are continuing this corner.. that's all of the introduction you need, I guess.

As response to your active writing in the board...
Let's call the "2nd Book Sommelier" !!!

"Hello!? I'm the head of School of Locks book club, Horikita Maki!"

"I'm 3rd-year junior high school student Red-Girl from Aichi!"

That's right, today's book sommelier is Red-Girl from Aichi.
What genre and books will she talk about with us today?

Maki: "Let's get straight to the point, what's your favorite genre?"

Red-Girl: "......new publications!"

Maki:
"Oh! New publications!! So you often go to bookstores?"

Red-Girl: "No, I always check the corner for new books in our school library."

Maki:
"I see~ About how fast are you reading the books?"

Red-Girl: "I read about 100 books per year."

Maki:
"Woooow, amazing!!! You really like books, don't you! There are a lot of new books, how do you chose which one you are going to read next?"

Red-Girl: "First I look at the binding. If I like the mood of it, I read the first 2-3 pages. If it's interesting, I continue to read it right there."

Maki:
"I see. Do you also check new books from olden days?"

Red-Girl: "Nope. As junior high school student I started to come to the library a lot of times and the fascination of the new publications just got me the most..."

Maki:
"Oh, their fascination?"

Red-Girl: "Their clear binding..., the sparking and shining white paper, simply the fact that not many have read it yet! I could even be the first to read it! That's what is so fascinating to me."

Maki:
"I know what you mean! By the way, what's your favorite writer?"

Red-Girl: "Ishida Ira, especially the "Ikebukuro West Gate Park" series!"

Maki:
"Hey, I like his works, too! And what are you reading right now?"

Red-Girl: "The new book of Hyakuta Naoki. It got released around last October and is called "Box!" It's a story about a senior high school student who is boxing. The world of boxing is completely new to me, but I thought that it's an interesting sport."

Maki: "So it really shows you a new world. Then, what is it that you like about reading books?"

Red-Girl: "I guess it's exactly that I'm able to get to know those different worlds and that I'm able to spread out to those."

Maki:
"That's right. Okay! We've talked a lot today and... I've made my decision! By today Red-Girl is our official book sommelier for new publications!!! From now on she'll introduce some of the books she picks up to read and introduces them to you in the board, so please check out her topic whenever you are unsure about a certain new book! Red-Girl, I'm looking forward to it!"

Red-Girl: "Me too, and thanks a lot!!"

And so we have our 2nd book sommelier!
By the way, Maki is also seems to be someone who likes to check out the new publications.
That conversation just now brought back some memories.

"When I go back to my school time, then I remember that I also always requested the new publications in the school library. It was a lot of fun to read them, because you were one of the first people who ever read it. The feeling of being the first is really great~"

GIRLS LOCKS! "Letters from Listeners"

In charge for the 2nd week every month and attending after 1 month of absence, Horikita Maki~

Today, "March 9th" is finally the day of Remioromen's live broadcast again! I guess you all know this anyway, but Horikita Maki appeared in the PV of their famous song "March 9th". (Note: 1 Liter of Tears) She was still a junior high school student when they filmed it. "How nostalgic~ Lot's of memories come up when hearing that song," she said.

There's a scene where her older sister in that PV has a wedding reception banquet and they really went through the whole ceremony from the beginning to the end without skipping anything. In another scene the older sister reads out a letter and you can't tell by watching the PV, but she really read out loud that very touching letter during that scene! The final PV isn't longer than a couple of minutes, but the actual filming took quite a while... you definitely should check it out.

Remioromen's "March 9th" is one of the standard songs for the graduation season... I think that a lot of our SOL students who faced their graduation this year also listened to that song. There should also be a lot of students who begin their new lives as of this spring, right?

This is a mail from one of those.

From Orange-kun (male, 17, Chiba)
Hello Horikita Maki-chan.
I'll be an university students as from April.
And I'm going to live alone!
I'm looking forward to live alone, but it's a completely new thing for me and I'm also a bit anxious about it.
You moved into the dorm of your agency, right?
How was it for you back then?
It would be great, if you could give me some advice!

Maki-chan:
I see, you are anxious about living alone. I lived in the dorm and so there were the other girls from the agency and the people from the staff. It never got lonely and yet I still often went back to my parent's home (laughs). However, all the things my mother always did for me... like cleaning, the laundry or cooking, I had to do them all by myself! Orange-kun! You'll make it! You might start to feel lonely sometime, but if you keep yourself busy with studying, a part-time job and hanging out with friends that feeling will definitely go away!!

That's right.
You can make a lot of friends and invite them to your home, start cooking, arrange everything the way you want.. There will definitely be a lot of "firsts" for you, but I think that it's also fun to live "all by yourself!" All of you who start living alone as of Spring, you can count on our support!!

[...] Skipping the next parts of the summary, as it's only about that literary award and has no interesting quotes from the show. [...]

Horikita Maki - Nat's Space Adventure 3

Horikita Maki worked as voice actress for the 3D animated movie "Nat's Space Adventure 3D" (also known as "Fly Me to the Moon") and on Thursday was the preview screening for the said movie. Her role is that of the male fly Nat who goes on a great space adventure. "I started to like flies and now I have problems even just holding a fly swatter." Maki said with a laugh.

The director Ben Stassen arrived in Japan just at the same day and didn't have a lot of time to get to know her, but due to her great voice he already offered he the voice role for his next project.
